Why Intuitive Eating?

At its core, Intuitive Eating beckons us to let go of external rules and restrictions surrounding food. Instead, it invites us to listen to our body and mind’s unique signals and honor our body and mind. It can be a return to our born state of eating, where we tap into our inner wisdom.

In embracing Intuitive Eating as a framework, we create space for self-discovery, that goes beyond calorie counting or rigid meal plans. It requires cultivating a deep sense of trust in our body's ability to communicate its needs. Intuitive Eating explores the emotional and psychological aspects of our relationship with food, AKA topics we need to talk about in order to talk about food. It encourages us to reflect on our own food and body stories, and challenges the societal messages that have shaped our understanding of what is deemed "good" or "bad" when it comes to food and bodies.

Intuitive Eating offers an opportunity to reject the cycle of dieting and deprivation, and instead, embrace a sustainable and more easeful approach to nourishment. By dismantling the guilt and shame associated with food, Intuitive Eating helps cultivate a better understanding of self, ease and self-compassion.

Over the 10 modules you will:

  • Reduce your guilt and shame around food.

  • Think about food and body less.

  • Get curious with how certain foods make you feel - mentally, physically & emotionally.

  • Work on challenging the belief weight = worth.

  • Begin to understand what has shaped your relationship with food and why food may have felt really hard.

  • Reconnect with your body and foster your hunger & fullness cues.

  • Practice new tools to cope with your emotions with kindness.

  • Explore new ways of interpreting self-care.

  • Learn to embrace Intuitive Eating while navigating this diet culture obsessed world.

Meet Your Facilitator

Emily Lovell, RD

She/Her | Your Virtual Dietitian

Hi, I’m Emily Lovell! I am a virtual dietitian, and I am passionate about helping people heal from disordered eating. I support clients in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario. I studied at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, and have been working as a dietitian for over seven years.

Clients I’ve worked with have described my nutrition-therapy style as compassionate and kind. I feel grateful to have been a part of The Nourish Collective since the beginning, it’s connected me to many incredible people (clients & team). Being a virtual dietitian has allowed me to live in a few different places over the years, with the most exciting one being the island of Saint Lucia in the Caribbean. I feel most expansive when in nature, and our dog, Frankie makes sure we’re out exploring several times per week.

My hope is for clients to feel hopeful, held/empowered and a sense of ease at the end of our session together. I support humans in eating disorder recovery, chronic dieters looking for an alternative to dieting, and clients living with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) navigate nutrition therapy in a weight-inclusive environment.

I look forward to holding a non-judgmental space for you, along this liberating journey of reclaiming home, trust and safety with food and your body.
